What Lives Inside, a fantasy web series sponsored by Dell and Intel, premiered on Hulu on March 25. The series stars Colin Hanks, J.K. Simmons, and Catherine O’Hara, and is directed by Robert Stromberg (Maleficent).
Hanks is the son of a world famous puppeteer (a la Jim Henson or Shari Lewis) who goes home for his father’s funeral only to discover the workshop he left behind might be a portal to the “fictional” universe he created.
The show is heavy with product placement for Dell’s tablet computers, but it still feels like entertainment. I love the bold visual style. It’s also intriguing how many of the show’s characters were created based on ideas that people submitted online, to the website http://insidefilms.com/.
